I decided to take some measures to prevent wedding crashers (and creepers in general) from getting all of the details about our wedding from our public wedding blog. Read on for more details.
Good news everybody!
We have a reception venue picked out! And I’m so excited we all came to an agreement!!

Bad news everybody–
I got all stranger danger and wasn’t sure if we should share specifics about the day of the wedding. I’m not super into the idea of having random wedding crashers.
It’s been about a month since me, my mom, Dave and his mom all finally decided over margaritas about our reception venue.
I’ve been sitting on this large piece of information about the wedding, debating on whether I should share or not. I had planned on doing a post of all the reasons we liked/disliked certain venues and why we chose this one.
Maybe I will share all of that information after the wedding? If I don’t forget everything, that is.
Changes I’ve Made to Avoid Wedding Crashers:
-You might notice that the count down is no longer on the homepage.
–The Big Day page is now password protected (the plan is to include the password in the invite). The countdown is there but at least it’s not on the homepage, I suppose.
-Maybe I should also make the “guest book” password protected?
Why not set the whole blog to private?
I had the idea I would make this wedding blog available to the whole internet because I have many friends online and off who won’t necessarily be invited to the wedding, but I still wanted them to be able to follow along with the fun and planning if they wanted.
I also figured I might learn some things along the way that would help others.
PLUS I’m a blogger who loves designing new blogs, so I didn’t want to just add our info into The Knot and call it good.
So what do you think?
Am I being too vain/paranoid thinking we might have wedding crashers?
You might be a little paranoid! Unless you’re not inviting some family members, but they’ll find out from family anyway. I didn’t have wedding crashers, and I had 5 people tell me they were going to crash (two of which I gave permission). I don’t think it happens as much as you think it does. We were a little worried we’d get some uninvited children, but that didn’t happen either.
Oh I didn’t mean friends or family crashing..I meant total strangers who found this info online LOL
I totally see where you’re coming from! I shared briefly about wedding planning on my blog and was very vague. I didn’t mind sharing details afterward, but didn’t want to publicize everything little thing to the world either!
Okay I’m glad it’s not just me! And Dave and his mom said something about not even sharing the date with anyone but that’s kind of out of the bag as far as friends lol
