Hey everyone! It’s been awhile since we updated this site, but rest assured–wedding planning is definitely underway. I mean, the wedding is less than a year away so I’m definitely feeling the pressure! So I’ve officially begun my Pinterest wedding planning.

I haven’t posted here since October when we had picked out colors. I think we were waiting for Dave’s sister’s wedding in December to be over (didn’t want to stress out Mama Knapp) as well as the holidays so we could jump in. And by we, I mean me.*
*Just kidding. Dave is helping, but he doesn’t have my obsessive brain so our levels of urgency are a little different. Right now he is actually much more focused on house renovations, so I can’t really complain. Since I started with planning, he jumped right into installing overhead lighting in pretty much every room of the house (like he had to get up into the attic and drill holes into the ceiling and have an electrician help with wiring because our 70’s house was only able to be lit up by lamps.).
Also, as I type, he is sanding down the main bathroom walls which are a disaster due to improper wallpaper installation by the previous owners that we took down, but kind of tore half of the wall off with it. Maybe he is doing all of this to avoid planning…? ๐
Anyways…
I have been pinning allthethings. I wrote a little post about some favorite pinterest boards on my other blog because it feels like that’s all I’ve been doing.
Pinterest is awesome for discovering new and interesting ideas for a wedding.
It is also insanely overwhelming because a lot of the ideas seem to be borne from a Martha Stewart type…which I am not. I feel like I am creative, but spending all of that time and energy for a 1 day thing sounds insane to me.
And yet here I am. Pinning hundreds of these Martha Stewart-y things to my wedding boards. Yep. I have more than one now and there are categories.
My main wedding pinterest board that I started (*cough* years ago *cough*) already has 200 pins and counting, so I separated some things out that I’m currently working details out on.
This is a normal thing to do, right? It seems helpful so far…
Wedding Pinterest Board Categories
Wedding: Flower Ideas
I don’t have a favorite flower, nor do I have any idea what flowers are in season, so Pinterest has been pretty helpful in giving me ideas. I also really want to do fake flowers because I want to keep them, but Mama Sue suggested doing a mixture. We will see! (this is literally the one I would pick at this point!)
Wedding: Cute Details // Favors
Oh man there are so many things I could put on this board. I’m trying to figure out what kind of favors to give out but also can’t resist some of the cute details like his and hers shot glasses…I think I am very susceptible to wedding marketing at this point.
Wedding: Dress Up
I’ve already looked at a few dresses and have two that I would be perfectly content wearing, but there’s always more pretty dresses to pin. I’m also putting ideas for hair, nails and wedding party dress.
Wedding: Photo Ideas
Among the many things the wedding industry has done…adorable/cute/gorgeous/ridiculous wedding photography is one of them. I’m such a sucker for it, too. I just heard how expensive good wedding photographers are…so they better take some awesome photos like these. ๐
Wedding: Dessert and Snack Ideas
One thing I’m pinning on this wedding board is hot chocolate bars. Dave’s sister had one at her wedding and it was perfect because I was freezing walking to the venue and a hot cup of chocolate with some cinnamon and vanilla vodka was an amazing way to warm up. I kind of wanted to combine that with a dessert table since we aren’t doing a cake…what do we think about this?
Wedding: Guest Book + Activity Ideas
This board is because I really want to do something cool with pictures or something for the guest book. I also love the idea of having guests write advice or date ideas and putting them in a jar for us to keep. There will also probably be a ton of kids there, so I am grouping all of this in for “guest activities” at the reception.
Wedding: Paper
This is for save the dates, invites and thank you’s. The idea is to have them all be “branded” the same (something you do as a {very amateur} website designer). I’m not sure that’s feasible, but we will see!
This all makes me feel crazy to put out here, but I’m hoping it might help a fellow planner out. It makes me feel weirdly more organized even though there are so many ideas to sort through. I guess this is why some brides-to-be take off a semester to wedding plan??
PS That is NOT happening over here! ๐
In other news…
Other than pinterest stuff, we have actually settled on a venue and a couple of other things. Me, Dave, Mama Sue and Mama Knapp all got together for the first time to chat about things. Margaritas were consumed (and probably necessary).
…but all of that’s for another post! (muahaha)
I also made a quick page today of names to know. I will add incriminating photos and details later. ๐ (so many winky faces!)
So tell us…
What are your thoughts on Pinterest wedding planning? Is this something that you have done?
What is the best snacky food you’ve had at a wedding?
What kinds of wedding favors do you appreciate getting?

Right now our wedding planning is looking more and more like a trip to the courthouse followed by a vacation and then a party with family at our new house at a later date ๐ Then again I love a good Pinterest board as much as the next girl so we shall see…

You wouldn’t believe the number of times I’ve suggested (slash pleaded for) a courthouse wedding. Or maybe you can haha! I think a backyard wedding would be amazing, too. Unfortunately a small wedding is not in my future, so I’m working on embracing it. ๐
Have you guys found a house yet?? So exciting!
