I feel like wedding colors are a good place to start with wedding planning. It’s pretty non-threatening and it was pretty easy for me since I have been thinking about this awhile.
Wedding Colors
In recent years I’ve loved the colors teal and pink. In fact, if you check out my other blogs, all of them have some variation of blue-green and pink.
I pinned tons of wedding colors and color inspiration on Pinterest. When I look at my original wedding board (with {updated} 224 pins by the way) started a couple of years ago to get ideas, even back then I was pinning pinks and blues and teals.

I created my most recent wedding board on Pinterest (edit to add: I’m even starting another one to narrow it down even more…because that one got out of control, too. ha!) so that I would have my most recent ideas..ones that I tried to narrow down from the original {224} pins. Can you guess what most of the colors were?
Pinks and teals.
Another factor that comes into play is that Dave’s sister, Laura, is getting married about a year before us and has said we could use some of their wedding decor. Her colors are navy, black and gold. I have been really into gold lately (it’s coming back in style, so it makes sense that I’ve been seeing it more), so I thought I could incorporate some gold in.

So I was down to pink, teal and gold?
I also of course want to consider Dave. His favorite color is black.
Pink, teal, gold and black seemed like a little much.
I decided we could narrow it down from there.
Teal, gold and black.
Like the colors you see on this very site.

I based these specific colors off of a bachelorette party invite I saw on Pinterest.
Edit to add: I thought that adding black made it look a little more snazzy and somehow putting that in the place of a pink made it more wintry. If that even makes sense. I was kind of worried about winter colors since my taste seemed to be more spring-y.
Another edit to add: friends/family who read this post told me that I HAVE to add in some pink. Apparently they think I like pink.Β
So that’s the enlightening tale of picking out our wedding colors. π
Many more intriguing details to come. (don’t ask me why I’m being snarky about wedding planning on a wedding blog. I’m apparently already going crazy.)

Is it weird I found this totally interesting? I’m not planning a wedding any time soon, but if my Pinterest board is any indication, I’m probably picking teal as my main color too π
